IMHO, yes, sufficiently decentralized while still imperfect.

There are real examples of people losing domains wrongly but it's very much not the norm.

And there's a real process for resolving disputes, that often involves real courts, which is much better than arbitrary rules.

i realized one reason bluesky is so cozy, theres no ads at all. really going to suck when this place inevitably starts putting ads everywhere. i wish we could live in an internet where zero ads is possible

at some point i felt bad about saying "insane," so i started saying stuff like "he's goofy," and it doesn't quite scratch the same linguistic itch
does this mean i can start saying "that's crazy" again, rather than "bonkers" or "wacky"? please, my family is dying etc

I was using it as a shorthand for an established genre of self-deprecating humor. self-negating, self-erasing, self-abnegating of personal worth

there's a difference between 'oops I'm a dummy lol' and 'haha I'm such a loser who can't do anything right'

you can tell the difference in energy, right?

Learning how to gracefully handle the emotional impact of userbases at scale is one of the hardest parts of transitioning from "me and a few of my buddies" mode to "small team, big userbase" mode. There's stuff you can't learn, because it's entirely resilience-based.

A reminder tech bros creating machine learning (AI) don't give a crap about you. Case in point: the company You, Only Virtual is creating chatbots modeled after deceased people who can interact with you as if they're still alive.

Gee, what possible harm could that have on the world?

Those other companies (and the people Hive Moderation uses) will be located somewhere like the Philippines, India, or Africa and not getting paid for shit. And that's who's doing the human side of trust and safety here and that's why they're being cagey about it.
