The Wisconsin Republican Party might be the most openly authoritarian state Republican Party in the country www.nytimes.com/2023/09/08/o...
Opinion | A Breathtaking Contempt for the People of Wisconsin
If a majority of the people cannot, under any realistic circumstances, elect a legislative majority of their choosing, then it’s hard to say whether they actually govern themselves.

This reminds me of the time a few years back when there was a spike of calls to the UW-Madison police for apparently unconscious people on the ground all over campus. It was sunny and they were laying out.

A while back I saw a slew of posts with photos of people like Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin wearing wide-legged pants as "proof" they'd already been arrested and were hiding their ankle monitors. Because if there's one thing that's out of character for Hillary Clinton, it's wearing pants.
I always wanted to go on Q forums and start wondering why we haven't seen any arrests yet, and subtly suggest that perhaps Q is a double bluff, a false flag to cover up the fact it is Q who is running the adrenochrome kiddie smuggling ring

One of my cats loved the high-pitched whistle in Missy Elliott's "Work It". You'd think it would be annoying, but she'd purr and rub her head all over the speaker.

Along with no-contact delivery. There's no reason for face-to-face contact in most cases.
This has been such a critical post-COVID development.
I have an acquaintance who is often homebound who has benefited mightily from streamed services and Zoom congregations. Glad those things have persisted as the pandemic has continued.

If you've been following the crisis at WVU, where I'm an assistant prof of English, you may know that

1. I, along with many colleagues, will find out next month if we'll be laid off in May

2. WVU's lawyer said they're reading profs' social media. Hi.

I read wayyyy more than I post for a lot of reasons. I more or less like an RSS feed to keep up with current events, but also authors, artists, musicians, scientists, etc.
So far on here I see a lot of interpersonal chitchat, but not a whole lot in the way of news or information. I'm hoping that will change once more accounts join.

The "starving artist" myth is one promoted by people in power to romanticize the forced austerity of artists and writers -- meaning, to convince creators that being paid less than they are worth is simply part of the expected narrative when it shouldn't be. (See also: the WGA strike.)
The biggest enabler for creativity is stability. I wish that was made more central to the creative narrative. Figure out what your specific needs are to limit stressors and enable "boring" time and work to achieve that as hard as you're practicing your art.

Do kids still pass notes in class? I'd assume they just text each other, but it looks like most schools don't let them have their phones during class.
