Unrelated to this topic, I thought it was so weird the Health Department is going to take a year+ to post some PDFs in the (existing?) data portal as a follow up to the audit.

What are they doing over there @jwbee.bsky.social @berkeleyscanner.com ?

A lot of Californians think that their local schools are paid for by property taxes. For 87% of school districts that is not true. Prop 13 1978 etc keep taxes so low that these schools depend on the state (and thus the stock market!) to meet our per child meager minimums!

It's ridiculous that AC Transit is raising prices and cutting service while giving away $500,000 to an 'advisor' who says he 'snuck up' to Oregon four times to line up his new job. This sweetheart deal should be rescinded and the money should be redirected for more bus operators.
AC Transit’s former GM has a new job in Oregon. He’s still making $500k as an agency adviserhttps://oaklandside.org/2025/03/24/ac-transits-former-gm-has-a-new-job-in-oregon-hes-still-making-500k-as-an-agency-consultant/

I need people to understand that Santa Monica and the Sunset Strip and Hollywood Boulevard are not in the wildlands-urban interface.

They are urban flatlands with fire-prone hills vaguely nearby, like half the inner Bay Area.

I’ve never seen this opinion expressed by anyone in a shrinking city. It’s always people in desirable cities who can’t imagine a problem worse than “people like it here.” @jwbee.bsky.social

Anyone in adtech who’s still on Twitter should care about this.
if this is true, the continued takeoff of Bluesky would be a matter of world-historical significance: the contrived decline in referral traffic to news sites from social media platforms is a load-bearing aspect of our currently screwed up information ecosystem
Also, holy shit, Bluesky sends real traffic. Will update this tomorrow with firm numbers but journalism is going to move here for sure. Twitter is a drop in the bucket. It's over, but we are so back, and so on and so forth

IMO Teslas have definitively becomes the BMW 3 series of the bay area. A 'nice', 'performance' car driven nearly exclusively by the worst people on the road.

Sophie Hahn can ponder how her lone opposition to safe streets cost her the election, probably from her third home in France, cuz she's not going to be mayor.

According to city GIS records, the three street lights in the vicinity of this intersection (Rose/Josephine) were replaced with lower wattage LED's in 2019. Biking or walking through here at night, you can definitely notice the lack of visibility and unsafe street conditions. arcg.is/1Oz8y81

1. Vote for candidates that will do something about climate change
2. Ride a bike
3. Stop eating meat (or at least beef and dairy)
4. Fly less
