They did an awesome job building it — I’m just here to preach the gospel of a Wolverine with a mid drive.

lol was not expecting to see my bike when I opened this app.

pictured is the result of unusual personal circumstance (6’8”, house at 1000’, never got used to drop bars). bike is my absolute favorite.

lol that was my thought with some of the suggestions to “start” with parking.

The level of entitlement in those threads is off the charts.

If she posts one or two more times with a picture of a hummingbird, I’m leaning towards her word over BFD.

solano would be a great street for (lots of) raised crossings

Don't know why you have to stunt on the rest of us like this.

But fitting that save Hopkins focused on theoretical risk instead of current harms!

Oh I think this was actually pointing out the risk of pedestrians having to cross cycle tracks. Which, turns out, is not the risk we need to focus on.

They have! And have faced resistance to doing so. But they also still have a ton around the Lab / Hill Campus that provides a direct path from historical fire starts to the flats.

I’m not the expert that Sprague is, and maybe this article isn’t his chosen venue for this, but I’m surprised at the lack of discussion on larger-scale prevention.

Huge groves of eucalyptus on UC property? Effective fire breaks between us and Tilden? Parking bans on evacuation routes?

It's great. They had near-realtime coverage for the small fire on Grizzly Peak in summer 2024. app.watchduty.org/i/24010

I need people to understand that Santa Monica and the Sunset Strip and Hollywood Boulevard are not in the wildlands-urban interface.

They are urban flatlands with fire-prone hills vaguely nearby, like half the inner Bay Area.
