In 1938, a New York Times reporter warned:

“When and if fascism comes to America it will not be labeled ‘made in Germany’; it will not be marked with a swastika; it will not even be called fascism; it will be called, of course, ‘Americanism’.”

I expect that as the chance of the Nats being in govt next year keeps going down they are gonna pass more and more extreme legislations knowing that Labour won’t reverse them all (or any in a meaningful way).

Then I found out that every oven has a self-cleaning steam function. You just need to fill a tray with water and run it at 150°C for half an hour.

Now my question is WHY AM I JUST DISCOVERING THIS NOW? It seems like something they would teach you at school.

It's very cruel that not only is our generation forced to rent forever, we're increasingly forced to share rentals forever too. If we're being honest, not everyone is cut out for having housemates. Not everyone is even safe to live with in the first place. And I think the cruelest irony of all is...

If you’re disabled, housebound or living in poverty and unable to boycott the big retailers this weekend… it’s ok.

Many of us save up for months waiting for a sale to get items we need to survive.

When you’re sick & in legislated poverty, some boycotts are inaccessible.

We need community care.

If they get a small crowd they'll probably blame the opening of the Metro Tunnel, not that the Cookers are a dying breed and Poorline is not welcome here.

Jealous. Whenever I write about reducing administrative burden in Aotearoa, I usually get wing-nuts emailing me and telling me I am a working-class traitor. I remind them the Maori economy includes thousands of small whānau owned and run businesses that can do with less paperwork: they disagree.
Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.

Some changes that they can look forward to:

The results for Australia are a bit depressing tbh. After a start similar to NZ in 2020-21, the impact in late-2021-22 was more than twice as severe as in NZ. NZ skipped 2 big waves by keeping their quarantine going until Feb-April 2022.
