That's a step increase in employment of 20-30% for building trades employment. Sean Strickland from @cdntrades.bsky.social sums it up perfectly: "Canada’s transition to a cleaner economy represents one of the most significant job creation opportunities in our country’s history." #canlab /4

A report by EDGI “found that under the current Trump administration, the EPA is at or below its lowest historical staffing levels [from the 1980s]. The authors estimated that the entire agency’s staff might be reduced by 25-33% by the end of the fiscal year.”

Fear and low morale at New England EPA office as it loses a quarter of its staff under Trump
The regional branch of the EPA has lost more than 150 employees since the start of the Trump administration's efforts to reduce the agency’s workforce, according to union leaders. Current and former employees said drastic changes in staffing and shifting federal priorities are hurting morale and productivity at the agency.

In our latest for The Breach, Jared and I do a deep dive on how continued tax haven abuse is not just despite our government policy - it's because of our government policy.
Canada loses an astonishing $15 billion every year to tax havens.

Jared Walker & @silasxuereb.bsky.social argue that this money could fund public services, but successive governments have let corporations shift profits offshore—while regular Canadians pay the price.

BREAKING: Today, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), which manages over $714 billion of Canadians’ retirement savings, quietly abandoned its commitment to net-zero by 2050. This is a shocking failure of responsibility from one of the world’s largest public investors.
