According to Star Trek canon, MLB folds in 2042. So let’s enjoy baseball while we can.

“Did our friend and colleague Jamal Khashoggi deserve to be brutally murdered? The question is more complicated than it seems,” argues the Washington Post Editorial Board.
can't wait for the new "Editorial Board" at WaPo to weigh in
Reporter: "Your Royal Highness, U.S. intelligence concluded that you orchestrated the brutal murder of a journalist..."

Trump: "He's done a phenomenal job. You're mentioning someone who was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about…things happen."

So far, Nationals are having a perfect offseason.

Feels like a pity inclusion, but it’s nice to see the Nationals on this list.

Even with the caveat that Alonso wouldn’t be the wisest expenditure, given that the first two years would likely be wasted, if you get the chance to steal a rival’s star player, you take it. www.mlb.com/news/pete-al...
Where could Alonso land in free agency?

Kotaku was once arguably the best video game news/review site on the internet and it’s pathetic what it’s become. It’s not so much the constant hawking. It’s the hyperbole on steroids that fucking sucks: “Costs pennies” = $18. “Nearly free” = $245.

Look out, Washington Post. This is your future.

This is dumb on two levels:

1) It’s just dumb.

2) If you’re going to do a detective series starring Peter Dinklage—and hey, sold!—there has to be a better concept out there for it than simply recycling Poker Face’s. Seems like a huge wasted opportunity.

This probably makes me un-romantic about baseball. But if the 2023 lottery order had flipped and Paul Skenes was a National and we had no reason to think that the Lerners would attempt to contend by the time he reached free agency…I’m pretty sure I’d be banging the Trade Skenes drum. dlvr.it/TPClCR

The Pirates' general manager plainly stated that he will not trade Paul Skenes this winter. Read more at MLB Trade Rumors.

If the Washington Post still did wacky bits, taking a different member of the Nationals front office and coaching staff out for a beer each night to see how many get carded, would be a good one.

I suspect that Mark Lerner is deeply uncomfortable with these recent hiring decisions, which means I think they’re great.
Nationals have hired Simon Mathews as pitching coach.
* 30 years old
* Pitched for (and graduated from) Georgetown
* Director of pitching at Push Performance in Tempe, Ariz., online trainer at Driveline Baseball
* Worked for Reds since 2021, including asst. pitching coach in 2025

I can’t tell the difference between Elon being an idiot (brow furrowed, he scribbles “Give each convicted murderer a robot” on a napkin and shouts “Eureka!”) and Elon laying the groundwork for crimes (“No need to lock me up for all those deaths, your honor. My Optimus will make sure I behave!”).

As I headed out for my day of mirth and frivolity, I was surprised by how crowded the Metro was. It’s weird how we have federal holidays where businesses are like “Nope!” I get we all hate Christopher Columbus now, but can’t we still take the day off?

Ignoring Veterans Day just seems wrong, though.

I don’t get how a franchise that routinely changed lead actors can be paralyzed like this.

Complete reboot is the easiest route. But you know how some dummies think “James Bond” is a code name, and the Connery Bond and Moore Bond were different people? Just do that. radaronline.com/p/james-bond...

There’s an epidemic of lonely seniors talking the ear off of grocery store employees manning the self-checkout, preventing them from overriding system glitches, checking IDs, etc. and slowing the lines down.

This has happened twice in the past month, so I’m comfortable declaring it an epidemic.

I don’t know if Welcome to Derry works as a series. How many times can a bunch of kids take on an evil force that frankly doesn’t seem to be trying hard to kill them?

But I’d be all in for The Dick Hallorann Cinematic Universe. Like, he travels the world fighting Stephen King villains in the '60s.

Don’t look now, but we might have come full-circle on that tweet everyone makes fun of that predicted the Nationals were the closest Washington team to contention.

If I know the internet, there’s an essay online somewhere that makes an argument that Materialists is yet another A24 horror film, just in stealth mode. Without even reading it, let me say that I agree with its premise.
