That’s the other side to this. There’s no issue for these streamers if that talent never gets a show made with them. So long as they don’t get a show made with anyone else. It’s a net negative for the industry.
Having just read Peter Biskind's book on HBO and the golden age of TV -- some of these overall deals were basically talent traps. It's not that say HBO wanted X making a hit show for them, it's that they didn't want X making a hit show for another platform and making them look bad.
