The reason the Right are so invested in the myth that the arts have no value isn’t because the arts don’t generate wealth (they do); it’s that studying the arts teaches people to imagine better ways of judging the value of an idea than by counting how much money it makes…

A great piece from @katiecrosson.bsky.social, who, it’s safe to say, knows a thing or two about Play for Today. 📺
Play for Today is back – nine ways Channel 5 can make it as successful as the original
Channel 5 has a lot to live up to, but research into the original BBC drama series has inspired nine principles the new Play for Today should live by.

Thank you to @theobserveruk.bsky.social for giving attention today to the campaign for independent access to the BBC Written Archives. The Corporation is still yet to engage with our argument and properly defend the policy shift. That is because it is indefensible. observer.co.uk/news/nationa...

Huge kudos to Channel 5, here – but the BBC needed to be running with this, long before now. 📺

That Wes Streeting, a gay man who used to work at stonewall, is having to attempt to rebuild bridges with his own community because he burnt them by selling us out in the hope of getting his slimy hands on the keys to 10 Downing Street is shameful.

May he never be welcome in an LGBTQ+ space again.
"(Wes Streeting) has taken steps to build bridges with the LGBT+ community and stakeholders by hosting constructive, open and honest roundtable discussions, and has set out his intention to maintain an open dialogue and to continue to listen to all views."

Every word is a lie.
