👇 "Follow the law."
The American Bar Association has just called upon every attorney, regardless of their political views, to join them & stand up for the rule of law & at minimum insist that our government "follow the law."

Every lawyer has an ethical responsibility to do so.

This might be the most nakedly corrupt document I’ve seen on DOJ letterhead — and I wrote a history of Watergate!
“You are directed … to dismiss the pending charges in United States v. Adams, No. 24 Cr. 556 (SDNY)…. The Justice Department has reached this conclusion without assessing the strength of the evidence or the legal theories on which the case is based”

in what meaningful way can we say that the constitution is in effect when an unelected and unaccountable billionaire is wielding state power to unilaterally cancel congressional appropriations?
Hearing that DOGE went into the Dept of Education today and shut down almost the entirety of the department's in-house research arm, Institute of Educational Sciences, cancelling contracts totally about $900m.

If you don't think America is corrupt, Pam Bondi, the Florida Attorney General who took a bribe, was sworn in as the US Attorney General by Clarence Thomas, a SCOTUS Justice who routinely takes bribes.

I sincerely don’t know why people aren’t physically stopping those dorks. Move shit. Lock doors. Lose the keys. Everyone switch seats. Turn off all the lights. Switch the signs on the elevator lobby. Make the settings all silly. Use a different language. Wear costumes. Fill rooms with balloons

Barthel Gilles, "Ruhrkampf." The Kapp Putsch of 1920 was defeated by ordinary Germans who mobilized for democracy. The lives lost in the Ruhr weren't lost for nothing; representative government survived for another twelve years, until the second year of the Great Depression.

if I understand American politics correctly, progressivism is something that requires 60 senate votes to work, while national conservatism doesn’t require any votes at all

What is happening beggars belief, but it's happening.
honestly think some of the hesitation here is that no one wants to sound like a crank. i was talking at an event last night and even i felt like a crank while i was speaking!
What if there were a coup, the US government fell to a drug-addled oligarch who seized control of our money, secrets, and levers of power, and Corporate media did not report on it?

A gorgeous print by Fumiaki Fukita.
This is something different in a Japanese woodblock. Fumiaki Fukita (b.1926) was head of the Printmaking Department at Tama Art University for many years. His work (using hard woods) has a distinctly modern look. It's title is:Poem Collection in the Morning (Theodor Schelwe Collection at auction).

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

"It could be called the Congress of the United States."

J.P. Morgan econs on Trump’s latest are “increasingly concerned that the policy mix may tilt into an unintentionally far less business-friendly stance. The sustained 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico set to start this weekend is materially different than the tariff increases built into our baseline.”
