Parenthood is attempting to console your child about the horrible, inevitable mortality of pets minutes before heading out the door for school, then having to stifle a laugh as, still crying, he slips on wet pavement and crumbles slowly to the ground like a cartoon.

Metaphorically, my brain is stuck between “If I arrive a few minutes after showtime I won’t have to sit through 35 minutes of aggravating nonsense” and “but what if I get stuck in the concessions line and miss the beginning of the movie?” at all times.

Imagine how excited, when while writing a song about his bar/workplace, the Piano Man was to learn fellow patron Davy was a career naval officer.

If you’re looking for a breathlessly compelling brilliantly paced surreal high adventure cosmic horror tale that is also a deeply human parable on societal dynamics, elite hierarchies, generational trauma, and greed, check out @johnchrostek.com FEAST OF THE PALE LEVIATHAN. Special and exciting.

@willowcatelyn.bsky.social I read your book! I learned a lot and have a long list of films to check out. I also watched FUNERAL PARADE OF ROSES, which is very much as you described it! Thanks for writing! DM me if you are ok with my asking a longer question about David Lynch.

Most of my life has been pretty directionless, but a few years ago I was able to ignore (listen to?) myself long enough to put together and get published this collection of poems and writings. It offers mildly lyrical takes on parenthood, school shootings, trauma, nature, and M&Ms. t.ly/HSTD6 ART!

Progress in the Trump era means when our government murders people in Central America in service of some deeply ill-conceived nationalist agenda it happens on TV instead of in secret.

Today a flower I’ve never seen before made me giggle out loud. Life is nice. Why do I make living so difficult?

Reposting because sometimes you gotta try and sell the thing you worked hard on and library support is evergreen.
My book is now available in a library Gallison Memorial Library in Harrington, ME! Which reminds me, you can buy my book (www.finishinglinepress.com/product/life...) or request it at YOUR local library. Either way, support libraries, one of the greatest ideas anyone has ever had!

Read it and then tell everyone else to read it too. The sheer, eloquent, obvious common sense of it all is maddening. Do whatever you can to throw sand in the gears of the machine that assumes it is ordained to move forward.

1/ A remarkable essay by two eminent Israeli scholars

"We wrote this essay to give [former IDF chief of staff's] words legal backing... We felt compelled to fulfill our human, conscientious, and civic duty, as Israelis – and as Zionists – who have expertise in areas related to the IDF’s ... order."
