This is exactly the problem with a majoritarian democracy split along two party lines. Multi-party coalitions are more democratic. The US is no longer a LIBERAL democracy. It is an AUTHORITARIAN democracy. Trump is playing havoc with a norms-based political system. Not enough checks to power.
I’m not American, so excuse my indignation.

The pardon system is a joke. It allows authoritarians to reward criminals. It’s a Mafia mob boss leader’s wet dream.

I always find it interesting how the story changes when a lawyer gets to court. They can say anything they want outside of court without accountability but the rules are vastly different in court where you can get seriously penalized for lying.

In a way, I find the authoritarian takeover of our media system even more disturbing than the authoritarian takeover of our political system.

Our political system has been failing basically my entire adult life. But, the media system provided accountability and sort of worked. Now it’s collapsing.

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.

Wanna fix fraud and abuse?

The White House says it’ll partially fund SNAP, but didn’t say how much or when after two judges ruled. Judges shouldn’t have to remind presidents to follow the law and to feed people.
