The best time to shift spending away from Amazon is right now. The next best time is tomorrow. If you're first reaction to the action is "Why should I boycott Amazon?" I implore you, take a few minutes to find some answers. Because the answers are there. And you have other options.
Some thoughts for folks looking to participate in the March 7-14 boycott of Amazon.

1. Start researching alternatives now. There are, of course, many things that are impossible to find elsewhere, but probably fewer things than you think! (E.g. many libraries let you take out tools!)...

What Sf Said said
Reading for pleasure has the biggest positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. And every reader is different, and enjoys reading different things in different ways. So please: let kids read for pleasure and celebrate books EVERY DAY - not just #WorldBookDay!

This is horrifying. We call for the immediate release of our fellow booksellers Mahmoud and Ahmad.
We are alarmed and shocked by the arrest and detainment of our author and colleague Mahmoud Muna, along with his nephew Ahmad Muna, owners and booksellers of Jerusalem’s Educational Bookshop.

Please share our statement below widely.

Useful info here if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription. We just checked ours and they indeed has increased our renewal price without informing us. Check yours too if you don’t want to or don’t need to use their AI.
Microsoft is going to price gouge you by adding their genAI to your subscription without your consent, and they are not transparent about how to avoid this bullshit.

Here's how to change your subscription back to "Classic" for a lower charge without Copilot: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffi...

Our Book & Bottle book of the month for January is Wild Houses by Colin Barrett. I’ve brought it on a long weekend in Anglesey with the intention of smashing the whole thing in. Haven’t even looked at the first page yet. Plenty of time though. Copies in the shop if you want one!

Reading a physical book bought from a local independent store is an act of resistance in 2025. Apple, Meta, and Amazon all desperately need your screen time. Start denying them some of it.
