Each Veterans Day, I always listen to Maurice Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin" which he wrote in memory of his friends who lost their lives serving in WWI.
Currently playing on WQXR in NYC, this recording by Leonard Slatkin and the National Orchestra of Lyon.

RIP Tatsuya Nakadai, one of the all-time great postwar actors. And, not for nothing, one of the most heart-stoppingly beautiful too.

Tonight in 1990 — Laura Palmer’s killer was revealed on TWIN PEAKS.
ABC insisted, and David Lynch + Mark Frost delivered a chilling episode.
But Lynch hated closure, and he got his payback with a finale cliffhanger it took 25 years to resolve. And even then, he still left us wondering. #TwinPeaks

Somehow, an orange-colored Oscar the Grouch would seem a bit too on the nose these days.
Glad they ended up going with green instead.

SESAME STREET debuted #OTD in 1969.
It changed the face of children's television — and transformed the way a generation looked at race and the world beyond our doorstep. #SesameStreet #SesameStreetDay

In 2012, a Variety poll of 40 top current film composers voted Ennio Morricone’s THE MISSION (1986) as the greatest film score of all time.
It truly IS a great score, and his cue “Gabriel’s Oboe” has become one of the most popular pieces he ever wrote.
Here he conducts it in 2004:

Carl Stalling, BOTD in 1891 (d. 1972).
One of the most innovative and influential film composers that most people have never heard of - because most of his music was written for the cartoon shorts of Walt Disney and Warner Brothers from the 1920s to 1950s.

I't time to play "What's the Score?"
Play the video, and from the 5 music clips, guess the movie title and the composer(s) for each one.
You have 24 hours before I post the answers, but please, NO AUDIO search - that would be cheating, yes?
Send your answers to my DM.

Joseph H. Lewis’ essential noir GUN CRAZY (1950) is on MOVIES! TV Network tonight at 10:30pm ET (and 3 other times this month).
Don’t sleep on MOVIES. It’s got lots of noir and it's available free, over the air in 85% of the US (and also on live TV streamers like Frndly TV).
