Please accept this interruption in your doom-scrolling and allow me to share a new redesign of my personal website, lovingly crafted with Astro, using fonts and a layout that I'm pretty excited about. Might even lead to me writing more than one post a year! daniel-saunders.com

I love that they used the Yuri Gagarin "GLORY" poster like it's not the coolest fucking image ever.

Well done, New York!!

As a true Angeleno, I have waited until game 7 of the World Series to start caring. (I hope the Jays win so we don't get 24 hours of fireworks!)

You mean the insolent, emotionally stunted men who have made careers out of trolling their own communities are increasingly comfortable showing their true fascist colors since Jan 2025? What a surprise
Just in case you were wondering, Mr. Tailwind CSS himself is all cool with the fashy vibe. (This comes as no surprise to anyone paying any attention for the last several years…he's always palling around with best buddy DHH.)

We are rapidly approaching the Luddite uprising / Butlerian Jihad for AI because the grifters peddling it are transparently contemptuous of actual skilled labor. You think people who have invested their whole lives in a profession are just going to walk away?

Anyway, when all of this started, I kept saying that you have to always look at these new technologies through the contempt that the tech world has for labor, and their campaign to destroy anything they can get their hands on for a bit more money. Human deskilling, not flourishing, is their goal.

Niemöller was asked by his concentration camp cellmate why he had ever supported Hitler and the Nazis. Reportedly, this is what he had to say for himself:

I actually think that it is fine for the left to say that actually, biologically essentialist views are not a project that we are interested in engaging seriously with, and that is the case both for race essentialism and sex/gender essentialism.

Wrote up a short post about my new site redesign/rebuild in Astro, and how I wanted it to reflect a sense of simplicity and thoughtfulness in opposition to the incessant noise we are bombarded with these days.

Also, backlinks, remote images, and cool CSS.

Grok is advising people to donate to the open fascist who lost his job after attempting to debate @mehdirhasan.bsky.social. As clear an example as you can find of X's alignment with fascism because the program is urging people to take real world action.

Idk if the Jubilee "Surrounded" thing is a Nathan Fielder-level satire or not, but it has to be one of the most bizarre and unwatchable formats in existence. Let's do an arbitrary struggle session for the laffs, I can't make it more than 1 minute of viewing

Agree that it's wrongheaded to idealize the gnostics, but to be fair gnosticism is an ambiguous label exclusively applied by antagonistic proto-orthodox writers as a broad pejorative against outsiders, and thus there is no real "gnostic" cosmology as such. This is just locally applied Neoplatonism
I keep hearing people hold up the gnostics as this lost “better” version of Christianity, like, oh they worshipped a feminine incarnation of wisdom so they were less sexist!

One of the main points of most forms of Gnosticism is the Jewish deity, specifically, is evil.
