Just another reason why they should just abolish the MLS Superdraft and allow any players out of NCAA eligibility to become free agents and sign wherever they want.
you'll never sing that
In the most MLS trade of all time, Toronto FC traded their first round draft pick to Colorado for a video analyst/assistant coach.

Colorado then used that pick to select a player already under contract at their club for 2026.

York United will be known as Inter Toronto FC, as long rumoured since the club filed a trademark earlier this year.

Complete branding will be released later. The team will continue at York Lions Stadium, for now.

I said this when FC Edmonton ceased operations and I'll say it with Valour now suspending operations, the location was never the problem, it was the investment. Not only monetarily but within the community in a meaningful way. Winnipeg is a sporting city, it just needs the right people in place.

I had a sneaking suspicion that Supra coming into the league and having the league be unbalanced with 9 teams didn't make sense. The league knew this was going to happen, and it's a really bad look going into a year when the country is hosting a World Cup. #CanPL
Breaking: Winnipeg Football Club, the group that operated Valour FC, made the decision to suspend the club's operations. Players and staff were informed during a virtual meeting on Friday.

Sources said the league explored finding new owners, continuing to cover costs or folding the club.

With the news that the stadium in Kingston is likely dead, my hot take is that there will be no teams added into the CPL in 2026 because of all the hurdles that have proven time and time again to be barriers to bringing in additional teams.
