ICYMI: The 2025 #CanPL Final was one to remember forever.

The mix of quintessentially Canadian conditions, Rodríguez’s historic heroics, and Ottawa finally claiming a Cup will make the match revered for years.

🆕 It took a lot to convince David Rodríguez to come to the #CanPL.

“I said to him, ‘David, you need to come.’ It’s your opportunity to show the world,” said Mejía.

After 2 stunners in the final, his decision was rewarded.

🆕 Diego Mejía has ruffled feathers all year for saying Atlético Ottawa is the best team in the #CanPL.

With a legendary performance from David Rodríguez, Ottawa is atop the snow summit.

Mejía can say whatever he wants now.

David Rodriguez on proving Diego Mejia was right to say Ottawa is the CPL's best:

"With all the respect to all the teams, they will laugh when they hear those comments, and we just prove it was true. So it just feels good to actually prove what coach says, what we are."

Asked Sergio Camargo what his message was to longtime friend Nathan Ingham, and Ottawa after they beat Camargo's Cavs in the Final 👇

New: There were moments that felt purely Canadian. Goalkeepers shoveled snow. Fraser Aird got pelted with snowballs. And plows took to a pitch that could've doubled as a rink.

My column on a #CanPL Final for the ages.

Here's the thing about David Rodriguez: his loan ends at the end of the year. This could easily be his final game in Ottawa. Who knows what happens next for him, but now, every few years, he can return to Ottawa and get a hero's ovation. He's a legend there now. That's so cool.

ATLÉTICO OTTAWA, YOUR 2025 #CANPL CHAMPIONS!

Ottleti win a first North Star Cup and a first trip to the CONCACAF Champions Cup with a comeback 2-1 win over Cavalry in a blizzard.

Diego Mejia has told us this team is the CPL's best all year. He wasn't wrong, just early.

DAVID RODRIGUEZ HAS SURELY WON THE CPL FINAL FOR OTTAWA!!

A bicycle kick to equalize, now a glorious chip to likely win it. Right in front of the supporters, too.

It's a party in the capital.

It's amazing to see how many people are engaging with the #CanPL tonight with this snowstorm in Ottawa.

Match restarts with extra time at 8:31. Go watch it on TSN3!!

Ottawa remain in it despite Cavalry layering on waves of pressure.

SERGIO CAMARGO IS IN THE GAME

He's been out since the final game of the regular season and missed two playoff games.

This could be the #CanPL 's World Series Bo Bichette equivalent.

Random, but referee Michael Venne switched from a black to neon shirt at halftime.

Still no longsleeves though

If it wasn't being played in a snowstrom this would have been a goal of the year, but the context of it makes it even better. #CanPL
GOLAZOOOO DAVID RODRIGUEZ

YOU WILL NOT SEE A BETTER GOAL THIS YEAR

The technicality. The power. The precision. Rodriguez goes bardown to level the #CanPL Final.

🐎❄️ GOALLLL FRASER AIRD!!!

Cavalry breaks the ice in the #CanPL final. No nonsense from the spot, calmly tucks it away.

Without long sleeves, too. Absolute stud.

🚨 PENALTY

Goteh Ntignee goes down after Kevin dos Santos sticks a leg in.

How the ref saw that through the snow, I don't know. Right call either way.
