Here's a humbling thing that has happened to me a few times over the years: I try to write an opinion piece or argumentative take. For some reason, I can't crack it. I do draft after draft. Something isn't working. I don't know what.

Then, finally, I figure it out.

I find people's 'my favourite whatever' lists interesting, but I find making these choices impossible personally. My favourite book? Right now? Last year? Five years ago? As a kid? For plot? For character? For relaxation? For a mental challenge? OK, I've got ten titles for each category, now what?
