imo a big reason for this, which i haven't seen talked about, is that people are being squeezed so hard that they just do not have time to do anything creative. so they latch on to whatever thing they're the biggest fan of and have some sort of artistic analog to a parasocial relationship with it
Yo, this is where people are at tho...you see so much TikTok/YouTube bullshit where people are offended by a celebrity or a brand's marketing strategy! Like, "you should market to people better!" Everyone's a fuckin' brand manager!
