Do some of you remember how I said a few months ago that the fascists aren't having fun? They still aren't, lol.

Their parties [when they have them] SUCK.

They make bad art.

They aren't funny.

They CRAVE Leftist popular culture & resent the fact that they do.

They aren't actually having fun

The soul-crushing desire to make the creation of art into itself a commodity aside, this also ignores that the process of turning “I have this idea” into a finished movie that requires other people’s input is how you get good movies.
It’s tiresome at this point, but again, their entire pitch is “wouldn’t it be great if there were no such things as talent, craft, and skill,” and what that means is a bland, slop-filled world. www.businessinsider.com/marc-andrees...

Jane Goodall's work insisting, with evidence from her brilliant and tenacious fieldwork, that we were not so separate from animals, and they were much more like us than the Eurocentric theorists asserted, was so important.

People make art under hellish conditions locked up in prisons as just one example. It's because making things affirms our humanity. So yes, make art during fascism. What are we fighting for? A free society FOR ALL where we can revel in beauty, culture and all good things.
It feels ever weird to make art in times like this, but as someone who remembers history creativity and artists are always things authoritarians want stamped out (unless they will work /for/ them)
