This is the 12th pedestrian fatality in Vancouver - that we're aware of - in 2025. (23 total when including Lapu Lapu). Last year "only" saw 7 pedestrian fatalities. The city is moving backwards on this and our mayor is MIA.

Gee, I wonder if there's any global event causing these records to break.

The story doesn't bother to mention any, so these high temperatures must just be a fluke.

It is unacceptable for the courts to disrupt the economy, it would mean all of the people the BC government sacrificed to COVID for the sake of the economy would have died in vain.

Children don't collide with vans. The child is not the active party here, and frankly I think people who write articles like this should reexamine their lives.

Think about how the RCMP comes down like a ton of bricks on old-growth forest defenders vs the kid gloves the government uses when logging companies illegally cut down ancient trees.

Laws are meaningless when they aren't enforced, and these loggers know that.

The thing that struck me the most about this article when I first read it like ten years ago was how he kept pushing her to be blonde.
He is such a basic bitch.
Feel like now is a great time to re-share this essay from Elon Musk’s first wife, Justine Musk, who said while dancing together on their wedding night, he told her “I am the alpha” and later said her grief over their infant’s death was “emotionally manipulative.” www.marieclaire.com/sex-love/a53...

The fallout from Carney's ~masterful gambit~ with Alberta continued today, when the Assembly of First Nations voted unanimously for it to be withdrawn.

All the while, Alberta has already found a new fight to pick with Ottawa (coincidentally, right after Danielle Smith was booed over the deal):

If these kids just knew the history, they'd be fine with an ongoing genocide.
They'd know it's okay for Israel to slaughter tens of thousands of children and starve hundreds of thousands more. Because history.
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

And when a liquor bottle is sold, there's no way of knowing that it won't find its way into the hands of a child, so all liquor should have to be imbibed on the premises where it was purchased.

Since this is the kind of thing the government insists on now.

Erectile dysfunction medication is also sold on the street, so men should have to start taking those in the presence of an official witness, too. Can't be too careful.
