The old term was Voodoo math. The city has created a “halo” area for the TADs. Saying that the made up “halo” areas boomed due to the TADs, namely the Beltline, leading to an additional $35m in tax revenue. Thus we should extend the TADs. I hate politics.

In 2013, we gave General Motors $17.5 million in state & local tax incentives to get an "innovation center" in Roswell, GA. That's tax money that could have gone to public services.
Today, GM is closing the center. 325 people are being laid off.

When the most detailed expenditure of proposed TAD funding is $155M to The Stitch, another giant sparkling project that doesn't really qualify as necessary infrastructure (we could use a lot more 5th Street bridges)... well, doesn't really make one lean towards the TADs as responsible does it?

You can make any policy sound nice by using buzzwords like “affordable housing” and “equity”. But you need to look at the numbers and ask if these projects are actually delivering what they claim. TADs haven’t delivered for Atlantans who need affordable housing most!
