The spring stems of the pussywillow plant. The flowers are puffy and white and line the stems like pompoms. Amongst the flowers are tiny cats of the same colors who have tails that mimic the pussywillow flowers perfectly.

Here's an old watercolor of a feisty little snapdragon.
A watercolor illustration of what appears at first to be a relatively normal snapdragon flower, but closer inspection reveals that it is actually a creature with the flowers forming multiple heads, and some of the leaves and roots becoming limbs and tails.

These little guys were growing on an alder.
They seem to be a tiny fungus topped with moss -- not a pairing I usually see!
Each cap is 2 or 3 cm wide.

Alders support an amazing ecosystem, at least in our climate!
Tiny half-cap (semi-circle) fungus grow out of the bark, brown gills visible because the cap is slightly cupped upward. Each cap has a coating of green moss that is visible at the lip.

The #littlecaps were kind enough to provide for me another guide, this time for the Gnome
