50 years ago, on Nov 9th, 1975, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald left Superior, WI on a beautiful warm autumn day carrying 29 men and 26,116 tons of taconite. It was to be the Fitzgerald’s last run of the season and it was to be Capt Ernest McSorley’s final run before retiring to spend time with his wife.

The feds raided an East Chicago home, arrested a mother and her 26-year-old schizophrenic daughter. She's been here since she's 2. In ICE custody, she had no meds and chose to leave the country. Now she's in Mexico, barely speaks Spanish, and her family can't find her.

“Taking the high road doesn’t mean standing still while others bulldoze the road. Prop 50 allows us to act, not out of spite, but out of duty to a broader democratic ideal. This is not a red state vs. blue state issue. It is a democracy vs. dysfunction issue.”

Last night, the National Guard chased children who were out enjoying Halloween in Navy Yard.

There is no valid reason for armed soldiers to terrorize children like this. End Trump’s occupation of DC. National Guard out NOW.

Our Eureka Zoo bears made the New York Times last week when a wild bear came and visited them. Today our bear climbed 70’ feet up a Redwood in his enclosure. He does this often, but it’s still great to see.

Kat is being federally charged by the FBI for protesting at Broadview.

This is a flagrant political prosecution by the Trump administration, which is trying to prevent free speech and free association.

I am proud of Kat. Her movement is being targeted by the government. She needs your support.
I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.
