Oooh, someone in my local homebrew club has taken delivery of some malt from Fawcetts for us. That's going to be nice for the New Year (bit busy in the run up to Christmas), but it'll give me time to get hops in.

Last ask, I swear. Local film makers shooting a story written by my excellent, clever and funny school writers group. Ignore the figures here. We're £350 short with three days to go. If you've bunged us some money THANK YOU. If you'd like to, THANK YOU. ❤️

I blame the neighbours for putting up their lights and making me feel festive. This must be the right glass for Stille Nacht.

Have you a recommendation of a bar in Paris, ideally with several draft (Winter/Christmas) beers or a wider choice of bottles? We are off in December, so enjoying something more than Jupiler will be great. Thanks!

I need to know what a bagel is without the hole. That's what I've made tonight. Delicious but not round either. 😁

@carolinedebenh1.bsky.social, do you do requests? Will you be posting any (Belgian) Christmas/Winter beers over the next few weeks? That might inform some of my purchases... 😁

BLACKOUT THE SYSTEM

From Nov 25 – Dec 2, we’re stepping back to push back.Stop feeding the system that profits off our struggle.Be mindful with your dollar. Buy nothing unnecessary, support local, and starve the greed that keeps us divided.

A delightful sour from my 'forget it' stock that I've just got out last month. It's still fizzy, there are floral notes, citrus too, wine undertones and ginger coming up afterwards. It's a great delicate brew, just sad that they're not brewing any more, but an inspiration to try this style myself.

Deep question. Which languages (and countries) spspspsps with cats? UK rep here 👋🏻.

Just English influenced or is it known in other languages?

Does anyone else read characters with certain voices?

I'm reading Le Carré's spy books with Alec Guinness' voice from the TV series.

A neat tool I just came across: Viabundus, a digital road map of northern Europe 1350-1650, that lets you calculate contemporary travel routes/times. In 1500, going Amiens → Köln by horse took almost 7 days and 13 toll payments.

Hello non sleepers! I can't sleep so am up with whiskey, cheese, baguette and the Leeds International Film Festival brochure. This started out as a grouch on overactive brain insomnia but I realise with my diet that I'm too bourgeois and privileged to really complain.

Anyway, #LIFF2025, go see it.

Have I missed all the publicity or is it muted? Philip Pullman's 3rd volume in The Book of Dust trilogy is coming out! I only know from walking past my local (UK) bookstore, backtracking, going in and pre-ordering. Clear my diary.

I finally made some time to go through 5 boxes I store beer. The idea was to remove it all from my memory & let it develop. It worked, I've found the Belgian beers I left to see how they evolve. 5yr old St Bernardus abt 12 had lost fizz but had pronounced aromas. 4 Yr old Rochefort 10 is lovely.
