Looks like a very cool data management-adjacent role, translating complex needs into actionable data requirements. 👇

Doing some all-pro level troubleshooting on some SSL timeout issues with the Census API I'm encountering by simply quitting and starting back up tomorrow =)

Watched You've Got Mail recently and realized that Birdie is the store's business intelligence analyst trying to inform Kathleen about trends since the competitor opened nearby. "They've been open 6 days. And we did $1,200 less than the same week last year." I loved seeing the old school keyboard.

It’s cold and grey out there if you live in the Northern Hemisphere, so why not start planning your vacations? 🏖️

Get a healthy dose of vitamin R by planning your trip around an #Rstats conference in 2025!

I've been authoring a lot of Quarto HTML docs lately and it has been fun to use the Font Awesome extension again!

I know it's often frowned upon to use Magrittr's assignment pipe <%> , but I admittedly like to use it sometimes. To my knowledge there are no alternatives if wanting to use the base pipe correct?

In case you ever wondered about the differences between magrittr pipe and base pipe 🤔

I took a gamble and bought this SG Special from a seller in Japan. A specific version of which I had been pursuing for a while. The previous owner replaced the capacitors and it sounds awesome. It quickly became my favorite electric!

Messing with CSS and doing it project by project, and format by format, across bigger organizations has been a nightmare. I have been a huge flag carrier at Posit for brand.yml to work help solve it. Sara walks us through the first steps on the road.

The world demands an oddly specific science speciality account like time measurement or something that can produce top tier memes.

Out of all of the fields I've worked in it wasn't until the data science space that I've encountered so many fellow musicians.

This is valuable info and the content I love here! On mobile be sure to check out what your cellular streaming quality is set at as well.
Since we're talking out Spotify, remember kids: You don't have to listen to shitty down sampled audio on Spotify. Keep at least your desktop app cranked to "very high" quality. You paid for fiber internet, use it!

I think this year I will attempt my own and more in-depth version of Spotify Wrapped. Maybe I'll make a Quarto dashboard? Curious to see if any others in the #dataBS space do the same.
Almost that time of year again where I request my listening data from Spotify for analysis using #rstats. Last year I had a hunch that cumulatively I listen to a wider variety of songs (and less repeats) during the summer and fall months. It turns out that was true!

What advice would you give someone who has been doing analytics in Excel and just got hired by a data team that uses Python? What surprises, delights, and pitfalls should she expect about her new workflow?

My initial advice: ask for pair programming time! If you are lucky enough to have a senior 😅

When I worked in public health it was quite common that many teams did data entry in Excel and had no access to R or other cool tools. Teaching them some tips and tricks to standardize many of those data really helped with automation of tasks down the line. I would have shared this post with them!
I wrote a blog post about a tool that everyone loves to hate on, but is often a necessary tool in the work that many of us do: EXCEL!
This post shares a few simple tips for setting up a workbook for data entry purposes that leads to better quality and more usable data: cghlewis.com/blog/excel_e...
