You can probably trace this back to the Nixon pardon, the post-2008 "Too big to jail" decline in white collar prosecutions, and of course more recently the half hearted Trump prosecution. These are fundamentally political, not legal problems
One of the defining feelings in American life, for decades now, is elites doing plainly criminal shit and nothing at all happening as a result. It is deranging in a way that virtually nothing else is. Media fixates on perceived street lawlessness but shit like this matters much more in my opinion.
Dereliction of responsibility by the court. It is so flagrantly illegal. www.huffpost.com/entry/us-wis...

Latest finished book - the first I've read from what might rapidly become one of my favourite authors. Beautifully written and delightfully plotted.

I finally rolled credits on Mario Wonder and that has been the best Mario game I've played in decades, the funnest platform since DK Country Returns, and the most entertaining credits since Super Smash Bros Melee!

re: the pic of obama and trump laughing it up, i saw someone ask if obama had forgotten all the racist lies trump has said about him. & he hasn't, it just doesn't matter to him. it's pageantry, you may as well be asking why actors are friendly on the red carpet when they were fighting in the movie

Dune has the same plot as the Westminster Dog Show: After generations of careful breeding, we have produced this perfect little freak of nature and now it has behavioral issues
Mom: Let's pick out a Christmas movie to watch on Thanksgiving. Which one do you guys want to watch?

Finished reading Wool/Silo book 1.

Really really good, especially alongside the TV series - they complement each other surprisingly well. The TV series only covers the first half of the book, but expands what is there effectively, while the book breezes past to explore the fallout.
