For over a decade I've been writing an album "about chasing shuttles."

But it's not really a collection of love songs about rockets.

It's about the *people* who made it go from spectacular to life-changing. Which is many of you!
Pet peeve: When people call a meal on actual Thanksgiving a "Friendsgiving" just because it is spent with friends.

That's just Thanksgiving.

I adore Isabeau Levito's skating and think she was born to skate to Zou Bisou Bisou (well, really, the English version, Zoo Be Zoo Be Zoo).

But also a little mad at her for the endless #earworm. That song is catchy af. Even worse, both people in my home sing it non-stop now, so no hope to nix it.

My perhaps controversial assessment is that when you share the propaganda of your enemies to call it out or to mock it… you’re still spreading their propaganda and maybe doing exactly what they hope you’ll do.

#HappyHalloween from the 4077!

First there was the life-sized gnome on our corner carrying a banana costume.

Then there was the sad bunny being comforted by a friend wearing a paper bag for a head.

Is it just #Halloween or did I step outside and into The Sims?

15 years ago today, I started one of the greatest adventures of my life, #STS133 part 1.

13 years ago today I started one of the worst adventures of my life, hurricane Sandy and not being able to go home for 3 months.

Life: Hell comes right to your door, all the good stuff must be sought out.

During these difficult and often-miserable times, certain songs have become staples for keeping me going.

This is one of the most effective, maybe it could help someone else, too...

Not an editor, but a few audio producers, who are the editors of musical ideas and it's really good to have one who is neither the songwriter or artist, because they will almost always improve your music if they are even decent at their jobs.

Last line of defense against yourself!
repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

What do people with keyless cars that aren't chargeable electric ones do to get in when their battery is dead?

I've simply never considered it until I was opening my car with my key to try and jump start it today. I've rented a few keyless models but never had the battery die on me.

Fresh MMR and Tdaps done to kick off 2025 vaccination season.

Just a couple of GenXers listening to scientists instead of assholes. 2 local measles outbreaks=time to make sure our MMRs are still working at full throttle.

Ladies, which annoys you more?

1. A lack of pockets in clothing

Or

2. When they go to all the trouble of putting in pockets that can't hold anything

Katherine Johnson passed away in 2020, at the age of 101.

Editorial cartoonist Steve Breen’s lovely tribute perfectly captured Johnson’s contributions to the US space program. (11/11)

I keep feeling like I need to write another song about why NASA funding is critical to many aspects of our lives and those of basically every being on this planet.

But? Bake Sale still covers most of my thoughts, it's just all that much more dire now.

Hoped it would be antiquated in 2025.

Living the “American dream…”
While I’m waiting on my flight, I thought I’d share a story. Yesterday I had lunch with two NASA colleagues. One is Laotian, the other Cambodian. Both came here as children with their families to flee oppressive regimes. Both are naturalized Americans and federal employees just like me. /1

Why is the global hydrologic cycle accelerating, with increases in both wet & dry extremes like heavy downpours & flash droughts? Blame the increased water vapor-holding (and water vapor-evaporating) capacity of the "expanding atmospheric sponge."
Why is the hydrologic cycle accelerating? Blame the "expanding atmospheric sponge..."
On a warming planet, rising temperatures rapidly increase the air's capacity to "hold" water vapor--by around ~7% per °C (or around ~4% per °F). This leads to the "Expanding Atmospheric Sponge Effect"--whereby the warming atmosphere acts like a progressively larger kitchen sponge, capable of both ab

It feels hilarious to celebrate our 1st anniversary when we just celebrated our 28th together. Marriage makes 0 difference in our lives.

But any excuse for a celebration, especially w/ great food and even better champagne!!!

Instead of saving cake, we saved champagne. Much tastier a year later!

So grateful to people who alert me about my internet stuff gone awry.

Spotify stealing my music, my FB hacked, my dad's FB hacked... I would never know without the eagle eyes of kind people.

Thank you for keeping my faith in humans intact even while other humans are doing their best to wreck it!

Decades ago, when I first started learning guitar, I picked up a really weird habit of using an alternative open G. When @urbanastronyc.bsky.social pointed it out, I was scratching my head on where I got this.

Finally found the answer:

The world around me is falling apart and every day brings fresh dumpster fires to add to the glut.

And then the silliest happy thing crosses my mind, like the idea that oven season will come soonish, and it's like a mental life raft.

The effect is all out of proportion.

I'm so grateful.
