It feels hilarious to celebrate our 1st anniversary when we just celebrated our 28th together. Marriage makes 0 difference in our lives.

But any excuse for a celebration, especially w/ great food and even better champagne!!!

Instead of saving cake, we saved champagne. Much tastier a year later!

Does this mean I now have the answer to life, the universe, and everything in italiano, too?

Nothing like seeing a classic in a classic. What a film! They just don't make them this entertaining in this millennium.

My local library recently started a Library of Things.

It doesn't have a lot yet, but it does have a starter telescope! How cool! What a perfect thing for a library to lend.

The correct way to start your resume in 1965. Apparently.

This remote is as big as the system it controls and has never worked as a universal for us. Everything else needs specialty buttons I can't map.

There is 1 useful button (power) and 1 useful toggle button (volume).

And there are no buttons on the system itself.

Silly design.

Midtown NYC is looking beautifully ominous in half blue skies/half stormy skies, like the sky itself is shining theatre lights on these buildings.

Discovered my favorite artist tonight, Jack Whitten. I am certain I saw his works years ago but never found out his name. He clearly inspired some of my HS work!

If anyone wants to come to MoMA with me to see them IRL, give me a shout! I would be happy to give tours.

Perfect shirt to wear to a literary scholar and educator's grave or what?

My mom taught me this by raising me in basically a library.

Gosh, I was a lucky kid. Thousands of books at home, 0 restrictions on what I was allowed to read.

Now I wear this whenever my guy tells me to purge books.

Amazing find from my mom's library.

Sometimes you just have to stop and savor the best things in life for a few moments.

My parents taught me to equally appreciate both the finest and the simplest pleasures in life. To love both the dirty water dog and the Michelin stars.

Today I am grateful for that lesson more than ever.

I mean, of course! Mugs were uncouth.

I am very excited to use these teacups regularly, even though I love a nice big mug. No matching pot, but I do have the sugar bowl and creamer.

And I have demitasse to match, so now I need an espresso maker... 🤣 #LifeUpgrades

Sometimes I wonder if my mom and I would have learned to get along and become friends in my adulthood, if she had lived.

And then I look at the china she chose as her fine tableware and think there's a good chance we would have. Because I'd have picked this in a heartbeat myself!

Ooh, what is this creature that has appeared on a neighbor's car? Angry ghost? A molar that sprang arms and a face?

2024 included throwing a (small but still not cheap, we live in NJ, after all lol) wedding and starting a new business.

We decided to mostly skip the holidays this year except for food. No gifts, no tree, just put up some lights and save $$$.

And yet...

This is our idea of "no gifts." Oops.

Inside is much more gorgeous than the outside and the panettone tastes even better than it smells. Which I thought impossible. Success!!

Recipe is from Bernard Clayton's "New Complete Book of Breads", highly rec the whole book. A master class in bread technique.

Buon natale e buon appetito!

The only way to learn to bake bread is to bake bread.

Traditional panettone turned out to be a huge adventure in learning, including troubleshooting and fixes due to a cold kitchen. But I'm gonna be better at every loaf of any bread from here out!

If it tastes like it smells, it will be divine
