It’s not necessary to keep highlighting the qualities of exceptional immigrants as a reason for them to be treated well by their governments. We don’t have to be on our best behaviour to receive a basic level of human decency: that‘s why they’re called “human rights”, and not “human privileges”.

I will admit that this is the single funniest outcome of us doing a Keep Politics Out Of Sports after a guy kneeled
Government is shut down. Chaos in airports. 42 million going hungry. 24 million face skyrocketing healthcare costs. Economy in turmoil. And the president of the United States is in the Fox broadcast booth calling plays for a football game.

The murder in Utah is a flashpoint in which the political lines made painfully clear; the bias the algorithm-fueled echo chambers of our political discourse are seen with crystal clarity. People will see Kirk’s death in the light they want to see it in; all other events just fades in the background.

FIFA’s ticketing policy for the World Cup risks taking game from the people, creating an environment where the content of wallets determines who gets to see biggest games. Means passionate fans from economically disadvantaged countries likely to suffer most despite providing backdrop FIFA sells.

Exactly this. The primary reason for the lack of empathy is that the Sudanese civilians being murdered do not register with enough people as having been sufficiently human.
I'm sorry but given that Sudanese live tweeted and live streamed multiple massacres including the day the RSF took Medani - we saw footage of corpses & people digging mass graves in real-time - I'm actually so tired of any explainer that indirectly suggests we are the reason for the lack of empathy.

Unbelievable!

Germany are somehow through to the semi finals after a penalty shootout win over France

Germany showed incredible fight to take it all the way despite playing with a player less for over 110 minutes!

They’ll face World champions Spain next!

Chelsea win the Club World Cup.

Three first half goals — two from Cole Palmer, and one from Joao Pedro — see off Luis Enrique's #UCL winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Enzo Maresca's side lift their second trophy in the Italian's debut season in charge.
