Twelve-spotted skimmers (Odonata: Libellulidae: Libellula pulchella) are often seen near lakes and ponds throughout much of North America. Mature males like this one have twelve dark spots and eight light spots. Females and immature males lack the light spots. Clayton Michigan, 27 Jun 2014.
