As someone who lives in Portland and is out and about quite a bit, I have yet to see any National Guard. Fox News is promoting a fiction of the city as a war zone, but it just isn’t the case. There isn’t anything for the guard to do but rake wet leaves from the gutters (which would help).

I work the night shift and it does make a lot of normal daytime activities difficult. This is considerate indeed.

Portland No Kings was very chill and peaceful. The guys in the fried egg sandwich cart at Pioneer Square were not phased by the massive crowd. Lots of fun costumes and signs. Unpresidented Band ruled as usual. Nice to hear from my city councilor as well. Tons of kids and boomers.

#portland Cathedral Park Report: there appears to be some kind of Burning-Man-Adjacent dance party getting started. DJ is playing a mix of dub-techno and acid house. This is a little more activity than we usually see in the park, but I think we’re below the National Guard deployment threshold.
