How can any student feel safe with Summers after he discussed, in writing, how to groom his students in exchanges with Jeffrey Epstein? What right does he have to his prestigious teaching position? Could Harvard really not hire other faculty to deliver this course?

Twenty-six accusations of sexual assault. Twenty-six.
Nancy Mace: "You can see in the Epstein emails that he's clearly targeting President Trump as retribution for him being a good man ... he's a good man who protects women. That's what real men do."

But also maybe they should ruin his life?

A guy asking Epstein for advice on how to sexually harass a junior colleague knows exactly what Epstein was and was clearly OK with it. I am frankly OK with someone ruining his life.

Evidently it ought to have happened decades ago.
Larry Summers is 70. Firing him is not ruining his life.

You do not have to let antisemitic bigots into your tent just because they fell out with the bigot in the other tent. Marjorie can sleep outside in the cold.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

“A vote for Labour is the only way to stop Reform”

Or

“Labour can actually do what Reform only claims it can do”

The government needs to pick one strategy, not both. The government seems unaware that voters can actually hear it trying both messages at once.

Anyone else with a refugee background finding *all this* triggering?

It is not ‘about me’. I live safe in a warm house and have two global north citizenships.

But I grew up with a parent with a suitcase of all the documents he might ever need tucked under his bed.

Don’t follow this route, people.

It is a serious problem for our political discourse that the most consistently astute commentator in the country is someone posting anonymously on social media behind a rat avatar.
June 2016 here. Do you notice how this has been proven correct: there really is no way to appease the reactionary right, who take every concession to their fucknut demands as a new base camp to strike out for more and nastier?

who can be arsed with this, honestly? It's just two people scrapping over bits of flotsam and declaring what kind of cruise liner they're going to build

Both the Budget and the asylum bill are disintegrating before they've even been formally announced.

Absolutely dead government.

The politics of the EDL-BNP lunatic fringe of 2010 are the policies of the Labour party Home Secretary of 2025.

In 15 years, we have gone from wide consensus support for pluralistic multicultural democracy to this.

And the Labour Right have been completely integral to that project.
They must be proud with this endorsement, they worked hard for it.

I remain unconvinced that "he was a pedophile, but of somewhat older children" is a particularly convincing defence of notorious sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

I have in my hands definitive evidence that my opponent has committed a world-historic evil. Evidence that, were it to be released to the public, would cause his supporters to abandon him and his entire world to crumble to dust. I therefore have no choice but to give in to every one of his demands
November 12, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Why would they bother to hide the evidence? They judged, correctly, that our society would permit rich and powerful men to do terrible things. We have built a society where elites can insulate themselves from consequences - even social ones - with a vast cushion of money.
TV conspiracies: we’ve hacked their computers but they’ve perfectly cleaned up the evidence!

Call me a woke purity-test white knight leftist if you like, but I think "the President should not be a sexual abuser or rapist" is a pretty low bar for the most powerful office in the world.
To be clear, we already know that Trump is a serial sexual abuser of at least 25 women. In a 2016 YouGov poll, only 16% of registered Republicans felt that disqualified him from the Presidency. In his monstrous exercise of patriarchal prerogative, many men find something aspirational - not evil.
I cannot compute how a party with a Qanon wing, that speaks of 'exposing' the 'elite pedophiles', has a base that does not care at all whether the President of the United States is a paedophile rapist. There's levels of Freudian projection going on here that seem impossible to sustain.

the only thing democrats should be saying today is “the entire republican party is engaged in a coverup of the most notorious child sex trafficking ring in world history”
