After years of the fail whale, I bet Twitter has good controls for new feature release. The breadth of release and speed of redaction of "poster geo location" makes me wonder if someone went rogue (or goofed) when this was turned on, then off, for everyone. Wish I could see the postmortem...
The old Twitter fail whale. After mostly solving scalability issues years ago, part of that solution was probably adding fine grained controls to the enablement of new features. Since "poster geo location" seems to have only been on for an hour - how exactly did that happen? Did they really not realize "this might not be a good idea to enable global"? Or did some engineer (deliberately or accidentally) turn it on for the world?

What are the chances this is actually some kind of test / attempt to identify dissenters? Hate to be a tinfoil hat, but Vance joins a known very unfriendly platform and immediately (and only) makes a provocative, hate-monger post. Is it engineered to see who reacts/blocks?
