Anyone heard from Matt Taibbi or Bari Weiss on this one? They’re usually quick to address campus issues.

This is emblematic of the problem at the core of the Senate: Democratic Senators aren’t responsive to the people, they’re responsive to other Senators. The Constitutional insulation of Senators from popular opinion is catastrophic when asymmetrically partisan.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

fwiw...I guess my take after thinking about this for a bit...
1. the real villains remain the Rs, who have decided as a matter of policy that people should die rather than get health care, and who see starving people to death as a reasonable way to force concessions. (1)

Following up on this. This remains a ‘cave is minutes or hours away’ situation. If you want to impact how this plays out you need to contact senators literally now. I want to add additional points of context. What I’m relaying is what I’ve picked up from highly reliable sources.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

We have this already, it’s called “rent” and its lack of equity is, unlike this concept, balanced out by someone else having the obligation of maintaining the property.
Oh good. the 50-year mortgage. That should solve everything.

MTG trying to reposition herself from "Jewish space lasers" to "independent-friendly GOP maverick" is fascinating to watch, not because it's going to work, but because even in a Trump +37 gerrymandered district she's obviously hearing enough to worry her.
