Frustrated with what is happening in our country and decided to start posting my thoughts about it.
Trump's 80%+ approval among Republicans tells the story. All of the chaos, racism, attack on the rule of law & elections, scrapping of alliances, ICE cruelty, corruption, and cronyism is what their base wants. The Trump regime is really not governing for anyone else in the country.

Saw this quote from Mike Johnson. This was a nonsensical word salad of conspiracy theories backed by no evidence whatsoever. If they use these kinds of arguments to try to subvert the midterms then there will be no line they won't cross.
NEW: House Speaker Mike Johnson baselessly claimed election results in “blue states” like California “just look on its face to be fraudulent,” echoing electoral conspiracy theories espoused by Trump.

The comments come as Republicans in Congress push to advance restrictive new voting legislation.

“It just looks on its face to be fraudulent," Johnson said. “Can I prove that? No."

Some lessons I takeaway from MN:

1. Everyone video with phones - Record for future prosecutions and legal actions, ID agents breaking laws, record agitators, create best record / evidence possible.

2. Send media and legal observers - Where can donations be made to help cover costs?

I am amazed at how incredibly stupid and ridiculous these Trump team moves are. Then, they push out what MAGA faithful, the house & senate Republicans are supposed to think, say and do. They all just march. Venezuela? Greenland? Tariffs? ICE in MN? Awful to watch.

The fascism AI that the Trump team is using has been trained with too much 1930s Germany content.

Maduro and his wife both plead not guilty, claim they were kidnapped from their country and that they are prisoners of war. They have very good legal counsel. The Trump administration will need to lawyer up and that does NOT mean Lindsay Halligan.

Read some of the 2020 Maduro indictment and the superceding indictment. Bad stuff at least at the surface level. But what happens if Maduro isn't convicted? The Justice Department has not had a great track record in court lately.

Venezuela est nominal gdp is $82.5B (IMF). That is a little less than half the gdp of Mississippi. Poverty in Venezuela is around 80%, around 18% in Mississippi. Yes, Maduro was bad. I know little about the oil or rare earth's in Venezuela but this does not seem like the economic flex Trump implies.

Markets likely will not be able to trust government numbers going forward. Private market data and estimates will need to fill the gap.

Trust these numbers? Economists see a lot of flaws in delayed CPI report showing downward inflation
Thursday saw the release of a much lighter-than-expected inflation report for November, and economists are already questioning its significance.

Trump will always pick a fight with someone who can't defend themselves. No class, no shame.
He's just lost it. Now saying Rob and Michele Reiner caused their own murder because they didn't support him.

So sick.

Tariffs on coffee, beef, bananas etc being reduced? I bet someone in the WH got word on the upcoming SC ruling and they are preemptively changing the policy to start getting around the ruling before it comes out.

I was 60/40 in favor of holding the line on ACA but can see where the 8 Senate Dems are coming from. Practical move. Maybe Thune & others made legit deal in private. If they get the rug pull from Trump, Johnson etc, the January funding deadline needs to have different meaning for those 8 Dems.

My prediction on tariff ruling - SC issues a short non-ruling ruling that states exec branch can issue regulatory tariffs in emergency situations. Trump admin will say great, that is what we are doing. SC gives them the language to circumvent what is clearly congress' authority. Hope I'm wrong.

Would like to see a national ad campaign that shows Reagan clip, Trump clip and asks "Why would Trump lie about Reagan beliefs on tariffs?". Then put expert on to list damages from tariffs on inflation, jobs, farmers, $1T+ cost to consumers etc. End ad with why he might tell such a lie.
Trump: "They cheated on a commercial. Ronald Reagan loved tariffs and they said he didn't. And I guess it was AI or something. They cheated badly. Canada got caught cheating on a commercial. Can you believe it?"
