I know stuff that is beyond the pale is happening every day, but we cannot become numb to how utterly wrong this is. I was thinking yesterday, how many impeachable offenses are we up to?
There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes. It’s like the Watergate tapes but posted on social media. Let’s get a grip on what’s happening here.

They just tear-gassed us. They tried to run us over in a van holding a peaceful protester. They shot us with pepper balls. They dragged another protester into the facility.
moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

Horrible, criminal treatment. I have been wondering about Abrego Garcia's treatment since he was wrongfully sent to CECOT, and the treatment of the other prisoners the U.S. sent there. This confirms that it was awful and inhumane.
NEW: Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s lawyers seek permission to file an amended complaint in his civil case in Maryland.

Among other things, the amended complaint “includes Abrego Garcia's first-hand account of torture and mistreatment at CECOT…”

This is what I have been screaming into the void for some time now
Sooner or later you're gonna have to come to terms with the fact that you can't combat creating concentration camps and kidnapping people off the streets by voting harder

Today, I just feel a huge pit in my stomach. Nothing like having a country where the President is a dangerous madman, his circus cabinet is endangering Americans, Congress is hell-bent on this disgusting, destructive bill, and SCOTUS is a corrupt fascism-advancing machine.

The wildest part about us getting banned on instagram and threads and all meta platforms without warning or explanation is not even being able to get in touch with a human being about it.

Dystopian, Orwellian shit.

I dunno about you, but I am sick of this authoritarian, anti-Constitution bullshit.

When will the officers face consequences for their criminal brutality? When will guards in these inhumane detention centers be held accountable?
“I promise you, it would have been a war crime.” that’s what Alejandro Barranco told me what would have happened if he treated a detainee when he was deployed to Afghanistan with the Marines like federal agents treated his father.

Trump says "two weeks" every time he can't figure out what the hell else to say. It's complete bullshit.
beyond parody -- Trump, through Karoline Leavitt, announces he'll make his decision about whether to strike Iran "within the next two weeks"

Exactly. And you should yell at them, especially if their names are Cruz or Cornyn, because those corny asses don't give a damn about their constituents.
the lesson of this isn't that tucker carlson is actually good but that you should ask these people basic factual questions instead of bullshit about politics
WATCH: “You’re a U.S. senator and you don’t know anything about the country you want to topple.”

New York friends, please. Do not rank Cuomo.
I can't think of anyone currently running for office more dangerous than Andrew Cuomo. Not just for NYC but for the nation, because unfortunately NYC disproportionately affects the rest of the states. Bad politicians elsewhere don't have the same structural power. NYC: Do not vote for this man.

Dems, you have had so many opportunities to take a stand. If you can't NOW, you need to step down. Resign. Let younger and fiercer leaders fight back. This cannot continue.
Reminder that seven Democratic senators voted to confirm Kristi Noem and six Dem senators declined to vote either way.

She was confirmed, 59-34.

The good faith experiment is clearly over, and we need the Democratic senators who didn't stand against her nomination to be loud as hell right now.

Yep.
Just saying, but if you’re having to deploy the national guard in *Texas* maybe you’re on the wrong side of this issue

This, absolutely. I keep bringing him up in every in-person conversation about Trump.
More people should be talking about the utter freak that is Stephen Miller and his white nationalist worldview. He's the architect behind most of this chaos as Trump is golfing, falling asleep during meetings, making money of memecoins and tripping while climbing stairs.

I approve of this message.
President of the Mexican Senate,
"We'll build the wall and pay for it.
But we'll do it according to the 1830 map of Mexico... Mexicans were settled in these territories before the U.S. The Mexicans living there are in what has always been their homeland."

Remember that sermon by the Rt. Reverend Mariann Budde, on 1/21/25, when she spoke directly to Trump? She spoke of mercy, but we knew he wouldn't listen. Still, what a good reminder that true leaders lead w/ mercy, honor, compassion.

And this, this is what the Trump administration decides to do:
🚨🚨🚨 In the last two hours, the Trump admin:

- Banned all immigrant visas from 19 countries, including Cuba, Haiti, and Venezuela
- Banned all student and researcher visas to Harvard
- Colluded with Texas to kick 20,000 undocumented college students off of in-state tuition.

This (along with so many other violations of our freedoms) is absolutely unacceptable.

This is pretty much the vibe now. So much for science, so much for the CDC, so much for knowing when natural disasters may occur, and so much for aid, after those disasters hit and devastate our communities. Shameful.
I have been sick for a week and I just read about "something going around" in a subreddit, which I guess is how I get my information now that the CDC is officially spending the next four years determining when and how microscopes became gay.

This is not acceptable. Let them in. Kilmar Abrego Garcia should have already been released by now. This situation has been allowed to go on way too long.
Today, I was denied access to seeing my constituent, Mr. Kilmar Abrego Garcia. If there is nothing to hide, cut the crap. Let his lawyer and I check on him.

Feeling pretty bummed today, might as well post some sad original music. I wrote this organ piece thinking of the many lives lost to AIDS, but also as a memorial for anyone who gave their life as a sacrifice. Something to think about this Memorial Day weekend.

Some good, sensible ideas for the Dems:
if dems want messaging help, stop telling people you're "fighting back." it sounds like you're being mugged. call off the podcaster search, take your ridiculous money pile and try opening some food banks and free clinics. hurricanes are coming and the feds have no plan. looks like an opening to me.
