They did this for us in Basic Training, and it was a genuinely great experience. The Drill Sergeants visited each table and chitchatted with us, no talk of "we'll work that meal off later" or other bullshit. It was a day of calm and camaraderie and one of my few pleasant memories of the service.

100%! Your NPCs *don't have to say anything* if they're just going to be spouting stock lines anyway. Skyrim's babble isn't part of the checklist, it's a *mistake.*
If the dialogue could be written by GenAI, so you think you'll just fill the space with that?

i take frenzy damage every time i see someone go "well i just use it for the boring stuff". what are you TALKING about? if it's boring or unimportant, why are you putting it in? NPC dialogue is fertile ground for worldbuilding, creating verisimilitude, conveying important information, and hijinks!!

Whatever your feelings are on artificial intelligence, A.I. has nothing to do with the purpose of the alt attribute or alt text. To suggest that people deliberately write misleading alt text in order to "stick it to A.I." is going to hurt the humans who rely on it to access the web.
