We can’t just tear down.

We also need to imagine the better path we take once it’s torn down
As the possibility of Trumpism’s defeat by a mix of modest organizing & societal inertia becomes at least imaginable—if, I think, as yet unlikely—perhaps it becomes crucial to also imagine realistic new politics to follow.

We need universal basic income. It will function as a cushion for people so that losing a job or not being able to find one doesn't mean zero income, and having basic income will also better enable finding or even creating a new job.

Also, AI is trained on all our work. We should all get our share.

My most woke opinion is that the whole point of society is to collectively help each other. My taxes should be going towards housing and feeding everyone. No one should be without food or shelter. Rich people should be contributing more towards this. It shouldn't even be controversial!

After much contemplation

I have concluded that America enables large scale homelessness

to serve as a constant reminder to poor people that if they don’t keep working long hours for pittances,

they too will end up on the streets.

If you have more than 10k followers mutuals should be able to hit a “you’re being weird” button and once it gets to 50 clicks in 24 hours it sends you a pop up like “your friends are concerned. Maybe log off”

In a 70% consumer-based economy such as ours, consumers are ultimately the true job creators. It's their spending on goods and services that creates the demand for new jobs. Any owner of a business that sells to the bottom 80% of the income spectrum should be pushing for UBI, not wage loss due to AI
Consumers are the true job creators in a consumer-based economy. UBI would create more consumers.

Phone calls don’t work. Letters don’t work. Postcards don’t work. Speeches don’t work.
Even voting doesn’t work.

Boycotts work.
Strikes work.
Mass non-compliance works.
Mutual aid works.
Overwhelming ICE with numbers works.

REVOLUTION WORKS.

Our brains are vast, complicated, _story telling machines_

They tell us a story to confirm the facts we think are true, based on nuggets of experience stored in memory.
People blame the algo for not being seen, but did you know there’s an algo in your head as well? And it hides things from you sometimes?

Or rather, it selectively focuses on what you want to see, and makes you ignore the rest.

Everything is a concept
Nothing is real

Justice doesn’t exist
It’s just a story we tell ourselves.

Some people use it to do what they think is good.
Some people use it to what other people think is bad.

> It’s just people, struggling
And we should try to alleviate as much struggle as we can
The greatest lesson of my middle adult life has been that there is no arc of justice

It’s just people, struggling

There is no moral teleological force working on our behalf

Choir, let me share a thought with you.

If justice for child rapists disrupts society, then society needed to be disrupted.

Oh, he's a job creator? Oh, the economy will suffer? Oh, the uncertainty? Oh, our whole political system?

If it's built on raping children, burn it all the fuck down.

Amen.

It’s hard to comprehend a soul that doesn’t care for anything other than itself.

All “Others” will be less than the self, and thus “not”

and who cares about the “not”, right?

So this is about as clear an admission as any that these companies are stealing the work of authors.

BTW, I'm on team "every author".

Just another reason to demand universal basic income. No one should have to live in a constant state of anxiety about their job, nor should anyone without a job suffer poverty as punishment.
I wrote about the stomach clenching reality of work now -- where rolling layoffs are the norm and no one feels secure in their job. Happy Monday! www.axios.com/2025/11/16/r...

UBI isn't just a progressive ideal; it's an evidence-based policy solution for economic stability & reducing poverty. Logic & pilot programs suggest it empowers individuals, stimulates local economies, & provides dignity. Time to move past outdated paradigms, existing must include dignity #UBI
