This is actually a great point, and something I have done in the past.

It's good to get reminders like this.
This thing y’all do where you flatten every issue down to capitalism (forgetting that racism, sexism, imperialism, etc. all 3 heads of the same snake) is extremely annoying because any discussion about the real life harms caused by each is dismissed

Tbf, cross country high speed rail could be part of military expenditure.

It’s all about diverting as much of that UN required 5% spending on defence in ways that benefits everyone AND defence
Canada could have cross-country high speed rail, but instead we're spending $81 BILLION on military build-up

Feels kinda like this stuff you hear about on socials these days were always happening.

It’s just that now we can actually hear about it, what with the internet and all.

And I kinda like that.

Better yet. Just do UBI
He's full of shit of course, but instead of a one-time tariff rebate of $2000, it would be wiser to make the payments smaller and monthly to reduce the impact on inflation and increase the odds of the cash buying basic goods and services. $167/mo over 12 months would be $2k. Better yet, just do UBI.

The solution isn't destroying all AIs and going back the way it was before (it's impossible). The only correct answer to that is a universal basic income + free healthcare + free mass transit + more free stuff provided by the government in general. Sadly the world isn't ready for that

I mean this very deeply. A big part of why I do not like fame is because it is so appealing to be wanted. It is appealing to be witnessed by all of you.

I do not seek sycophantry though, I want you all to challenge me. To call out my bullshit. I want friends not followers.
I had to step away and sip coffee before coming back to respond to this.

Everyone who treasures my presence here really helps me feel accepted by the world. It's hard to admit that. It's very vulnerable and being vulnerable to the masses is a terrifying thing.

You are precious and amazing too. 🫶

People suggesting that AI can help the loneliness epidemic aren't realized how dangerous becoming accustomed to a constant affirmation machine can be.

Real human interactions aren't universally positive and no one responds to everything with "what a brilliant suggestion you well hung genius"

Normalizing shaming corporations who refuse to pay people a living wage so that their billionaire owners can get even richer.

Normalize shaming people who think we must “prove” our worth before we can eat or receive healthcare.

Stop shaming the sick, the poor & marginalized.

Guys just thought of this: what if we wrest power away from the capitalist ruling class and create a society not based on the exploitation of a laboring class

Maths...

If you make $100,000 a year (not bad), it will take you 10 MILLION years to earn a trillion dollars.

If you make a million dollars a year (wow!), it'll still take you a million years to earn a trillion dollars.

Tax the rich.

FIFA to create new “peace prize” to appease Trump

They appointed Ivanka to the board of a $100 million special education project

An organization as corrupt as FIFA has no business giving out peace prizes…but then again Fox named Melania Patriot of the Year last night

We’re in the upside down

I hope china ramps up its green energy production and exports and fucks them over I guess then.

We clearly don’t need to bow to said cartel anymore.
No. The oil market is dominated by a cartel that artificially constrains its supply to raise prices and can simply add more barrels if others are removed.
November 7, 2025 at 5:40 PM
There will be less demand if there is less supply, right?
It's a collective action problem. Pretending otherwise doesn't get us any closer to a solution. It simply transfers economic rents to other parts of the world.

So, again: let's focus on reducing demand for fossil fuels and increasing demand for low-carbon energy. That's the whole ballgame.

“As long as there *is* demand for murderers and rapists, why should Canada voluntarily surrender its share of that market?”

This sounds absurd when O&G is viewed as the #Ecocide it is?

Participating in the Bad Thing is Bad.

End of story?

Dont we have the tech to move past this _right now_?
Sure. If you know anything about my work you know that I make that point all the time.

But for as long as there *is* demand for heavy oil, why should Canada voluntarily surrender its share of that market (and the economic rents attached to it)?

Even a marginal <5% increase on income over $1m generates billions in additional funding.
(There are several examples of this without causing emigration)

If I make $1m, in a year?
I’m currently walking away with $550000

If we add 5% on that?
I’m walking away with $500000

Who. Fucking. Cares.
90% top tax rate. 90% tax on anything over $1 million.

I will die on this hill.
