But Newsom calling for his followers to "continue Charlie Kirk's work," someone who praised stoning gay people as "god's perfect law," who called for men to "take care of" trans people like they did in the 50s and 60s, is not it.

Can someone in immigration law explain to me how this is legal?
When ICE agents look like this, it is ENTIRELY APPROPRIATE for state and local law enforcement to step in and demand they identify themselves and show judicial warrants before detaining anyone from an immigration court.
Democratic mayor and governors can take action on this.

It is a depressing indictment of modern society that as Palestinians are massacred with American weapons, trans people are criminalized, Black people are pushed out of jobs, immigrants are disappeared, and pregnant people lose bodily autonomy, the question du jour is "but what about white men?"

I’ve used the Library of Congress for research in the past and here’s an interesting fact: children are generally not allowed in the reading rooms, even if accompanied by an adult. You must be at least 16 to enter. It’s not the type of library where you can check out books.
