Spending the morning giving education summits for our front line nurses on prevention of hospital-aquired infections. With all of the discourse on public health in the news lately it's important to remember that the effort needs to come from all of us, not just legislation.

I was in a surgical quality meeting that started at the crack of dawn AM, and watched the person across from me making their presentation slides mid-meeting, for their updates in five minutes.

I aspire to that level of daring.

Ahh, Florida- Where it goes from "gee what a beautiful evening" to "hurricane practice session level storm" in five minutes.

Had one of those nights last night where nothing with wires or electronics was liking me.

The announcement near the train tracks always says to "beware of trains coming from any direction". Knowing my luck, I'd look left, look right and then get hit by a train falling out of the sky as I cross.

Just had our Infection Prevention/Public Health chapter board meeting. This is my first as an acting board member, and we were pleased to welcome our Epidemiologist colleagues from the Dept. of Health.

Today's hot topic was the ongoing measles outbreak seen in North America.

Good morning and happy Wednesday.

No, my ducks are not in a row. They aren't even in any sort of order. I'm pretty sure at least one of them is an inebriated pigeon.

There is (what I assume is) an ice cream truck that comes through my neighborhood at least two times an afternoon, playing what I can only describe as a techno version of "Turkey In the Hay". Just in case you ever wondered what musical torture sounds like.

Reading epidemiology news this morning about Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in deer and saw this quote: "Animals that get CWD do not come back from the dead."

Are we implying that deer WITHOUT prion disease are capable of self-resurrecting?

I've been trying to focus on some creative hobbies as a way to relax from my stressful day of convincing people to do the right thing. Last night I worked on editing the audiobook entry I was assigned. I accidentally deleted the beginning of it.

Now I'm more stressed.
