Lifelong anxiety prepared me for this moment.

She/her. I love dogs and science and hate bigots.

Newly adopted by #uglydogs.
I can’t recall which of the #uglydogs asked about books, but seeing @mac-b5.stickimporters.com collection of discworld novels inspired me to start rereading them on my 3 week journey to my father’s memorial. Currently reading I Shall Wear Midnight.

There is no mass-deportation campaign going on right now. Deportation is a process.

This is kidnapping and human trafficking.

Reminder: the Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen posts are just to distract from the Qatari "gift" or the fact that he's trying to rip Medicare and Medicaid from millions of Americans right now.

New from me: Everything feels overwhelming. But here is a tangible thing you can do: write a comment to oppose Trump's plan to convert 50,000 career civil servants into political appointees. Deadline is May 23. Please share!

I’ve only gotten to know the lovely @ravenmae.bsky.social recently, but I can tell you one thing for certain: she is a beautiful human who even through her own personal hardships prioritizes others. In a crazy world, we need more humans like @ravenmae.bsky.social. Please donate if you can.
I know everyone is struggling but I need help. Due to my loss of income, dad & I are at risk of losing the house from debt. Any help/reskeet you can give me to hold onto this house until we're better situated to sell it vs losing it would be greatly appreciated.

Congress is proposing cutting every meaningful program (nutrition/food, science, education) that actually helps people, but let’s spend millions on a parade instead. The rage this makes me feel is deep.

I work in climate adaptation/mitigation and this is depressing as heck because we were already screwed. Now we are actively trying to kill the population off.
The Senate voted today to overturn an EPA rule limiting the 7 most hazardous air pollutants emitted by chemical plants, oil refineries, and other industries (all Democrats voted NAY). This is the FIRST time in the 55-year history of the Clean Air Act that Congress has scaled back protections.

For some reason I agreed to take a (very, incredibly needy) foster puppy overnight. She almost certainly was taken away from her mom too soon. But the cuteness!

Someone spent his first 24 hours (maybe ever) without a dog buddy. He is timid but adjusting. The shelter asked me to take a 5lb dog tomorrow, so he will have a new buddy.

If anything hit me at ~88mph, I am pretty sure I would have more than a bruise.
New York Yankees leadoff hitter Ben Rice bruised his left elbow when hit by an 88.2 mph slider from Manuel Rodriguez in the fourth inning of a 10-8, 10-inning loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Bandit is a border collie mix, 1 of 12 dogs rescued from a hoarding case. I knew about the dogs, but an #uglydogs member sharing a photo of one of the other dogs is how Bandit ended up moving in with me. I reached out to the shelter I foster with after seeing their post, and learned Bandit (1/2)

I promised the #uglydogs I would post photos of my fosters, and I felt we could all use some happy news today. This pup is doing great in his new home. He is obsessed with the cat and in love with his new family. They sent me this picture with the update.

This was something to participate in. The movement is growing. And if being around people isn’t your thing, there are other ways to participate. Make calls, help people locally, build community. It is all important.
Yesterday was incredible. The official count is in — 5.2 million people joined the #HandsOff protest nationwide. So many are asking: what’s next? Mark your calendars: 4/19 is the next nationwide day of protest.
