Once the bewilderment clears people will simply realize they've been betrayed.

I said after David Eby flipped to LNG-cheeleader: "I'd love to know what gets said to people to flip them to oil & gas once they're in office" and I say it again now.

I don't think worry about the impacts is driving the doomism, I think it's the concern that we are not seeing significant policy/ behavioural change, adaptation strategies do nothing/make things worse & many climate solutions are causing new problems. At least that is what makes me worry.

This piece really pisses me off, because I was one of the several thousand climate and environment people who actively protested to defend the exact Australian renewable subsidy policies that people like Fawcett are now somehow claiming we're viciously opposed to

No: we had to fight to defend them

Finally, I worry that by exaggerating the power (and misrepresenting the true source) of local opposition to clean-energy development, when climate people have been trying to get clean built since forever, the Abundance faction is, inadvertently, doing the comms work of fossil-fuel interests.

Potential emissions from LNG aren't all in there. This year's report is less clear which, but the #s look consistent with past practice for projections to only include approved projects with a final investment decision. LNG Canada phase 2 and Ksi Lisims, though approved by govt, aren't in there.

MOST IMPORTANT: Carney's move signals to the rest of Canada, and the world, that it's OK to keep building more fossil fuel projects.
Other countries will use this to justify doing the same.

Our children are watching, to see if we care about their futures. Do we? 1/22
