The many problems with the FDA’s big menopause announcement
No, it doesn't kill women or cause divorce.

If only science communicators, doctors, and the people who have monitored the anti-vaxx movement for years could have convinced journalists and politicians of this....

They want zero vaccines. They're not hiding it.
As predicted, they’re going after the entire childhood vaccination schedule (second slide, from WaPo).

Trapper keepers full of notions maybe. Journals full of dreams. Necronomicons full of plans.
Mike Johnson on the Republican healthcare plan: "We've got notebooks full of ideas."

This is how cognitive dissonance theory works. He is, like all of us, the hero of his own story. He is a good person so his decision must have been good. He will rationalize away any thoughts that are not congruent with his self image. Many terrible people sleep like babies.
Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

We need fewer senators who were old enough go rent a car during the Nixon administration.
King on the ACA: In 1973, when he was 29, King was diagnosed with an aggressive form of malignant melanoma. King has said he believes he survived cancer only because he had health insurance, and has highlighted this experience when explaining his support for the ACA.

Polylaminin: a miracle cure for spinal injuries, or another media hype story? | Marcelo Yamashita

Polyamin was hyped as a miracle cure for spinal injuries in the media, despite there being no published scientific papers presenting the evidence.

I’ve been warned by someone at work that Mamdani is going to tear down the Statue of Liberty. I’m skeptical but will withhold judgement for now.

This should be just as effective for depressions as it is for my eating disorder patients.
While I sit in the hospital next to my patients who experience severe depression and suicidal thoughts, I’ll be sure to tell them to eat more steak and eggs. 👍

Strict school vaccine mandates work, and parents don’t game the system − new research
When states prohibit parents from opting their kids out of vaccines for religious, philosophical or other nonmedical reasons, communities stay better protected against infectious diseases.

I still mask up on the T and at work. I’m often the only one in a mask on the T. It’s more common at the hospital.
Tom Hanks explains to Stephen Colbert why he masks on the subway:

"I'm doing a play right now so I cannot get sick... I've had COVID enough in my life, I don't need to do that again. So I'm wearing this for health reasons."

Thank you Tom! Masks are still a key part of public health.

No good evidence to support this nonsense. And poor regulatory oversight.

This Hallmark Christmas movie is ridiculous. I know. But this one is more ridiculous than usual. A woman is trying to “trade up” a stocking for a house for her sister by Christmas, who wants more stability for her young child. They both have successful businesses. Their dad is buying a boat.

Disqualifying in any other job except for a fiction author. Facts (plot holes) can get in the way of a good story, sometimes unfairly so. But that’s it. Like, imagine if I said that to a worried parent over the bed of a sick child.

Air Traffic control: You’ve got to land the plane now!

Pilot: Yes, but where?

ATC: Tampa! It has to be Tampa!

Pilot: …

ATC: Pilot? Are you there?

Pilot: I’m thinking!
For a few terrifying moments on Thursday, passengers were tossed around on a JetBlue Airways flight when the plane suddenly dropped in midair before it made an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida, the FAA and the airline said.

I imagine the book must be better. This was one of the worst murder mysteries I’ve ever seen. Just awful. Worse than any Hallmark mystery.
The writers of Thursday Murder Club on Netflix apparently did their research using police training videos. A character is irate, yelling at a group of protesters and suddenly drops dead. You are supposed to think heart attack. Nope. Fentanyl.
