I only skimmed this, but the more I read, the more I thought "this is complete bollocks and someone is taking the piss".

There's so many highly questionable claims, and assumptions, that I'm having a real hard time believing it.

Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

If you don’t like the BBC, I suggest that you go to America and watch their TV for a day. It gives you a migraine. The BBC also keeps the standards of the other outlets relatively high. If you think we watch shit now, imagine it with no BBC. And they actually care about drama, children’s, factual.

Brilliant, essential thread from @doublepulsar.com on hype around AI cyber threats. My summary:

1. Google release a really honest paper saying some malware has used AI to morph into new capabilities but..

2. …goes on to point out that the capabilities are crap

3. Industry hype ignores part 2
There's some really big caveats to this. A thread.
New: Google says it has discovered at least 5 malware families that use AI to rewrite their code and generate new capabilities on the fly, suggesting AI-powered malware is finally starting to take off. cloud.google.com/blog/topics/...

Report also has interesting stories about state actors' AI use.

On a train from Glasgow last week, the man next to me left a USB charger cable plugged in when he got off at Lancaster. I plugged my phone in. No-one complained, so I kept the cable when I left the train.
