I am deeply disturbed by the shooting in Utah. Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family.

Let me be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.

The official voice of the U.S. government draws from 4chan trolls, explicitly white nationalist phrases and talking points, and radicalizing, dehumanizing, desensitizing language for its targets. I talked to propaganda experts about what it’s doing to us:

The official voice of the US government Is cruel, gross, and weird. What is that doing to us?
Joking memes about imprisonment, deportation, and death by alligator are designed to radicalize and desensitize.

We need much less Mamdani national implications discourse (implications that are very likely minimal to nonexistent, & I’d say the sane thing if Lander had won) & much more discourse about the vastly more important Republican reconciliation bill.

Just call it the Self-Inflicted Wound Era, when we took a bunch of stuff that was working largely fine (vaccines, weather monitoring, friendly relations with like 175 countries, cancer research, renewable energy credits, the FAA, global trade, etc etc) and just broke them for giggles

A DHS spokesperson defended the detainment, accusing Sen. Padilla of failing to properly identify himself during Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference.

But multiple videos show Padilla clearly identifying himself as a senator.
Sen. Padilla pushed to ground, handcuffed for demanding DHS not lie
Forcibly removing a sitting US senator, as they opposed the president's immigration policy, is a part of a broader slide.

In our latest It Can Happen Here video, I note how the case of the mistakenly deported Maryland man has become a constitutional flashpoint, with Trump defying the courts and assuming dictator-like power—while being damn cruel. This is what authoritarianism looks like.

A few years ago I visited the National Museum of African American History & Culture with my grandparents. When we stepped out of the building my grandmother kept repeating the words “I lived it. I lived it. I lived it.”

She’s still here. That history is still in her bones. You can never erase that.

📸 No one follows more etiquette rules than the Royal Family—but notice how King Charles didn’t make any smart-ass or demeaning comments about Zelensky’s attire today.

Why? Because respect isn’t about clothes—it’s about character. And that’s something money can’t buy.

Not holding townhalls because constituents are pissed off is the civic equivalent and stopping testing because that way the COVID numbers can't go up.

This essay from Trevor Morrison and Rick Pildes prompted me to run down the answer to a question that’s been bugging me ever since J.D. Vance began posting about defying court orders: Are federal courts completely dependent on the U.S. Marshall’s service to enforce civil contempt orders?

Fixed it for you.
President Trump has opened the throttle on blowing through apparent legal limits, often with no clear public explanation for how their actions could be consistent with the rule of law. Here are some examples of the administration’s defiance of statutes. nyti.ms/4aKnKRP

These people are so crazy. Most Marxists just assume that USAID is a CIA cutout.
The unelected South African oligarch tearing apart American civil service is calling the international aid-and-soft-power apparatus started at the height of the Cold War to counter the influence of the Soviets a “viper’s nest of radical-left marxists.”

Wont anyone read a book?

It is not the constitution that is failing us.

It is the partisans who have promised to uphold the constitution that are failing us.
