I mean yeah it’s an authoritarian takeover but can we take some comfort in the fact that the people doing it are INSANELY stupid?

Literally having trouble thinking of an institutional sector — journalism, education, government, health care — that ISNT being run by people who actively hate the work it does
Bari Weiss is the logical endpoint of corporate media. This is what happens when people who hate journalism are in charge of it. The only way journalism works is when it’s independent from the power it’s supposed to hold to account, which means ownership can’t have anything to do with those in power

We’ve already paid for AI - not with money, but with our data, our habits, our privacy.
I refuse to pay a cent more to any AI company that risks accelerating environmental collapse. And frankly, you should too.

This quote continues to rattle me to my core:

"So what you’re telling us is you need less evidence to kill somebody than you do to hold them."

That's Rep Adam Smith to Pentagon officials in a briefing on Trump's illegal boat bombings. As he told me in this piece, they didn't answer his objection:
Awful: Pentagon officials told lawmakers Trump now claims authority to bomb people merely “affiliated” with “narco-terrorist" groups, Rep Adam Smith tells me. But under questioning, they wouldn't say what “affiliated” even means!

Lots of fresh info in my new piece:

Fun fact: your dog gets a free FastPass to the fatality line if they get rabies.
Also, rabies can be passed from your dog to your child.

Have you ever helped a dog through a distemper infection? I have.
Unvaccinated dogs have a coin toss (50%) chance of survival.

Stop being proud to be ignorant.
Dogs are getting vaccinated less and rabies rates are rising, in part because 37% of Americans think vaccines will give their dogs... pawtism.
