I can't speak for others, but he's wrong about this Democratic lawyer.

The incoming administration is betting that Democratic lawyers, environmental groups and civil libertarians have less money and appetite for drawn-out court fights than during the earlier days of the anti-Trump “resistance.”

It is actually an intergenerational compact. It's the wages of people now working that keeps Social Security and Medicare going. The GOP tries to make young people believe that the programs won't be there for them when they retire, so that they will support gutting Social Security and Medicare. 1/

First thing that needs to happen is repealing the law that allows the government to “borrow” from the fund and immediately pay back the loans and interest. That would secure the fund. Originally the fund was limited to being used for payments of SS and SSD. That changed under Reagan.

Nobody gets rich off of Social Security. Most people like me are barely subsisting on the program,. But it has helped from keeping us homeless and penniless. We paid every single cent into the program! It’s OUR money.
