Okay, that is TOO on the nose...

Do I laugh, cry, or scream?

She combined the green beans and carrots...and are there any herbs/spices on those veggies at ALL???

Okay, half a point for not doing the horrendous green bean casserole, I guess...🤷‍♂️ But minus points for the boring pre-fab crescent rolls...

Saints preserve us, Mrs. Betty Bowers--are you writing NYT headlines now??? 😅

(Spoiler alert: America's Best Christian is NOT writing NYT headlines. But well done anyway.)
Some say that Lindsey Halligan is a wildly incompetent lawyer.

Others say she gets her cases resolved incredibly quickly.

As an editor (fiction, not news stories), I approve this message.

And as a writer, I hugely appreciate *my* editors!
Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

True then, true now.

This history nerd says: True.
There is absolutely nothing old or consolidated about *multiracial, pluralistic democracy* in America. It only started 60 years ago.

And the conflict over whether or not it should be allowed to endure and prosper has been the central fault line in U.S. politics ever since.
From 2022:

Well, yes, there is that. (eye roll)
If folks don't want House and Senate Democrats constantly having to choose between a rock and a hard place, then they need to stop voting for unified Republican control of the House, Senate, and the presidency.
November 11, 2025 at 10:42 PM
To @senate.durbin.gov, because I called your office but couldn't leave a message earlier today. DO. NOT. CAVE. ON. HEALTHCARE.

Any promise of a Senate vote on extending the ACA subsidies is worthless, because a) These guys lie like rugs, and b) Mike Johnson won't hold a House vote. DON'T GIVE IN!

That closing line...well done. No notes. :)

Tucker Carlson is promoting Hitler the right way.

Stop lying, Mr. Emmer. The GOP has the majority; you guys can reopen the government any damn time you want. Do it and quit whining. Or sit your asses down and negotiate with Senate Dems to keep the ACA subsidies intact and reverse the ugly Medicaid cuts. Your choice, cowards.
Emmer: "You're playing politics with people's lives, and for what? So that you can appease the radical pro-terrorist wing of your party ... it's despicable"
October 28, 2025 at 3:00 PM
But, ya know, which party is laser-focused on "kitchen table issues" and "lowering the cost of living"? Making life better/less expensive for "average Americans"?

Tell me again, pundits? (Or you could just go again with, "Joe Biden old/Kamala Harris laughed too much.")
Breaking: Trump just banned states from being able to wipe medical debt from Americans’ credit reports.

The Biden-Harris administration had moved to wipe medical debt from credit reports. Now this new rule will keep $220 billion in medical bills on Americans’ records.

The old "deserving vs. undeserving poor" trick. Nice. (Not.)
having the power to decide who eats or not and who gets shelter or not is a lot of power and the christian right is extremely open about wanting to control and mold people. they are 100% in earnest about wanting the government out of any aid help; unqualified aid robs churches of that position
October 27, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Thank you for this, sir. You've put into better words than I can, something that I've sensed for a while but couldn't quite put my finger on.
i think i would honestly find this whole discourse more tolerable if people simply said what they were actually saying, which is that they think the Democratic Party is too associated with femininity (and secondarily, with black people) and that they want to correct this
October 25, 2025 at 2:57 PM
Very on-brand for Trump, malignant narcissist that he is.

Thanks for all you do, Congresswoman Crockett. Where the h*ll are your colleagues in the GOP???
Today, the White House Press Secretary told the country that this ridiculous damn ballroom is “the president’s main priority”…not reopening the government, not lowering the cost of groceries, not lowering the cost of housing, not lowering the cost of healthcare….building a ballroom

That is *exactly* how the Gray Lady would put it. Sigh.

(head tilt) ...And this would be snark/satire, as opposed to a headline the Gray Lady would actually go with, how?
Whether it's young Democrats expressing their support for DEI or young Republicans saying "I love Hitler,' both sides have expressed controversial opinions.

"Appears to contradict the government's [read: ICE's] claim..."

(deeply sarcastic tone) Huh. Fancy that.
It’s important to flood social media and news channels with news about how ICE lies, so that potential jurors see it.
Body-camera video appears to contradict the government’s claim that Marimar Martinez, 30, drove toward officers before one of them opened fire at her late Saturday morning in Brighton Park, her attorney claimed.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

1,000 % agreement with this.
Premiums are set to increase by 70%, a health care bill could soon triple.

Don’t know about you, but I can’t afford another $600 a month.

Dems are fighting to stop this. Trump & Republicans won’t even have a convo with Dems.

Let’s be clear: Republicans 💯 OWN this‼️

Cardinal Dolan is a whited sepulchre. A terrible excuse for a Catholic. He just lied through his teeth about Charlie Kirk, whose words and actions had little (if any) connection to "the truth". Or to the Christianity the man professed. You know, the one that says "love your neighbor as yourself"?
To hear a member of the Sacred College venerate a serial race-baiter is disheartening, to say the least. Showing respect for someone so tragically murdered does not require this.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan on Fox & Friends on Charlie Kirk: "This guy is a modern day St Paul. He was a missionary, he's an evangelist, he's a hero. He's one I think that knows what Jesus meant when he said 'the truth will set you free.'"
